This episode's drink: Cognac French 75A little history: most people, when they think of a French 75, think of a gin drink with lemon and champagne. However, there’s another version the French 75 that hails from New Orleans, originating at an establishment called Arnaud’s, which uses cognac. There’s some dispute as to which version of the drink is the original - although most cocktail historians and bartenders believe the gin version came first - but either way you take it, it’s delicious. 1 oz. Cognac1/2 oz. fresh lemon juice1/2 oz. simple syrupchampagne or dry sparkling winelemon peel garnish Combine cognac, lemon juice, and simple syrup in a shaker with ice and shake until cold. Strain into a flute or coupe and top with champagne. Express the oils from a lemon peel over the top of the drink and then drop in. Like the sound of that cocktail?
