This month is Hispanic Heritage/LatinX Month and we're excited to have Vidal Mendoza from NAU's Hispanic Initiatives with us. #DYK NAU has earned recognition from the Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities as an HSI- a Hispanic Serving Institute. What all does this mean? It means that a college or university’s Hispanic enrollment makes up at least 25 percent of its total enrollment and is a recognition of the diversity of its student population. The designation also gives NAU greater access to grants which provides funds to expand educational opportunities for, and improve the attainment of, Hispanic students. In this episode, Austin Young sits down with Vidal to find out what Hispanic Heritage Month means to her and what she's trying to do for Hispanic students on campus. Listen on as we touch on food, family and culture.P.S. Whether you're a student, faculty or staff-- we hope you'll join the festivities and make time to listen, learn and converse this Hispanic Heritage Month.
