Yawning...why is it so excessive?

There are so many around us that silently battle with mental illnesses.  They could be a family member, a co-worker, a friend, church family, and more.  I list a few reason why people hide their disorders.  If you know someone who has confided in you, be there for them.  They have placed a very serious thing in your hands, and they trust you! Be a support!

Why do we hide our disorders?

Have you really given any thought to the tears you cry before, during, or after your attacks? I sure have!  It sent me into researching why I feel better after a good cry.  What I found amazed me for sure!

Tears, why do they help so much?

This is a very hard subject to talk about, and one that is not going to make me any friends.  Churches have placed such shame on Christians who suffer with mental illnesses.  Whether you suffer from anxiety, depression, or PTSD...there is a level of shame that you tend to feel, one that we get from being told that if we were closer to God we wouldn't be dealing with.  We have been told for too long that our illness is a spiritual problem.  Join me as I break my silence on how mental illness in handled within the church (in general).

Breaking the Stigma is my way of speaking out about the misinformation, and the inaccuracies that the christian population has placed on mental illness. I speak out on the stigma that is in the church on mental illnesses such as anxiety, depression, and PTSD. I share my personal struggles, and experiences as well as those that have been shared with me. The battle is a real one for those of us that deal with these illnesses on a daily basis.
