Star Wars Droids & Star Wars Rebels - animated series John has us take a look at two animated series based on the Star Wars property. The earliest example of animated Star Wars is the first thing we examine, Droids. The latest example we examine is Rebels. The Star Wars holiday special showcased an animated short featuring Boba Fett and was the first foray in animation with the property. Droids, set about a decade before A New Hope, follows R2D2 and C3P0 as they bumble across the universe falling into one adventure after another. Rebels, starting about 5 years prior to A New Hope, follows a group of mercenary smugglers as they shift from survival into full rebellion against the Empire. Droids isn’t readily available in a streaming or disc format, though you can find some episodes online. Rebels is available on iTunes, Amazon and on Disney XD.
