Corn Nation: for Nebraska Cornhuskers fans

Miscellaneous

Many of you likely remember former Nebraska Cornhuskers beat writer Christopher Heady from his days with the Omaha World Herald. The secret Kansan spy spent a number of years following the inside action at the Hendrix Training Complex and Pinnacle Bank Arena during the end of the Tim Miles era and start of the Fred Hoiberg era. That unique perspective gave him an interesting look at how two very different coaching era were in Lincoln. Luckily for our listeners, Chris was generous enough to give us his time and talk about some of the contrasts between the coaching regimes and the overall picture of where basketball stands in his mind among the Husker fanbase. Did the athletic administration care about basketball before Hoiberg? Did fans? Do facilities actually matter? What about after Hoiberg’s hire? How significant was the hiring by Nebraska in contrast to previous hires or even at other Power Six programs? How much did support from the athletic administration change overnight? What went wrong in the first two seasons and where are things heading from here? Also, is Ohio State a “basketball school”? What about Michigan? If you haven’t gotten the picture by now, this was an all encompassing episode and listeners won’t want to miss a second of it!
