There's a lot going on in the world right now. Issa whole lot. We decided to have a candid conversation about our journey as a couple in understanding race and privilege.  We really wanted to show that these conversations will inevitably be messy, hard, and uncomfortable -- even when they're rooted in love and a willingness to understand.  Also, there is an evolution to understanding and unlearning institutions, and it doesn't happen quickly.  Mr. Hallease explains what it was like for him to experience that and how he approaches allyship. All that to say, this episode is a little bit longer than our usual podcast topics, partly because we go off script (sorry) but also because while editing it I wanted to include the awkward pauses, the moments of backtracking, the difficulty of communicating effectively. So that when you find yourself in an awkward but necessary conversation you can know that this is what it is. You're not necessarily doing it wrong. It's just hard.
