Sports writers Todd Hefferman and Bucky Dent join sports editor Les Winkeler to talk about the change of leadership at SIU and what you could learn about our best prep football teams Friday night in the newest Little Egypt Sports Podcast. Jerry Kill, a Hall of Fame football coach at SIU, was hired as the special assistant to the chancellor by the late Carlo Montemagno in 2018. When Montemagno chose to not renew former athletic director Tommy Bell's contract, he asked Kill to take over, and he went on to completely renovate the program. Kill hired seven of the program's current 11 head coaches, including Bryan Mullins for men's basketball, Lance Rhodes for baseball, Rosalind Joseph for the track and field program and Ed Allen for the volleyball team.
