This week on the show we discussed both HR 8 and HR1446.  These proposed bills both have direct impacts on anyone who owns and/or plans to own a firearm.  HR 8 is titled "The Bipartisan Background Checks act" and would prohibit a firearm transfer between private parties unless a licensed gun dealer first takes possession of the firearm in order to complete a background check.  However, there are exceptions that we cover in detail throughout our conversation that many popular media outlets are not mentioning.  HR 1446 is titled "The Enhanced Background Checks Act" and specifically increases the amount of time that an FFL needs to wait before transferring a firearm to an unlicensed person.  Currently, if an FFL submits a background check and does not receive a response within 3 days, the dealer is permitted to sell the firearm under a "default proceed" transaction.  If this bill passes it will increase that minimum wait time to 10 days, with the hope that the FBI will be able to get more accurate and complete results.  However, with all these proposed bills there is a large amount of the information that is misrepresented to align with whatever narrative the source is trying to align with.   Ohio Huntsman is Powered by Simplecast
