Xiang Dong Fu, PhD shares the findings of his paper published in the June 24, 2020 issue of Nature. By investigating a strategy to directly convert astrocytes to dopaminergic (DA) neurons in the substantia nigra, the research shows a potentially powerful and clinically feasible approach to treating neurodegeneration by replacing lost neurons.
