This week the 14850 Dining Report is celebrating some food-related business ribbon cuttings and grand openings around Ithaca! The Bistro at La Tourelle has taken over the classic farmhouse vacated last year by the closure of John Thomas Steakhouse. Their ribbon-cutting last week featured comments from Tompkins County Legislator Daniel Klein, Ithaca Town Superintendent Rod Howe, and Jennifer Tavares from the Chamber of Commerce, in addition to La Tourelle leadership from the extended Wiggins family and Chef Anne Miller. The Bistro has long offered weekday breakfasts and weekend brunches, and they’ve just expanded their hours with weekday lunches. 15 STEPS recently added a culinary and crafts classroom alongside their new housewares department! The Downtown Ithaca Alliance and city officials came to celebrate along with owners Scott Dolphin, Todd Nau, and Carol Travis in the space that has already been hosting cooking classes this spring. Longtime Ithaca Commons hot dog vendor Lou Cassaniti moved indoors over the winter so he could offer a variety of street food in any weather. Lou’s Street Food just added purity ice cream to their offerings, and Lou celebrated with a ribbon-cutting featuring representatives from the Downtown Ithaca Alliance and Mayor Svante Myrick.
