Episode 24 Season 2 is out Rich Birfer. Rich is a Pitch Science Apprentice with the Texas Rangers. Rich attended Western University and received his Bachelors in Kinesiology and Exercise Science. After Western, Rich attended Brock University and received his Masters of Science in Kinesiology. Rich talks about how he become so passionate about baseball. He began writing for a sports blog and during this time he was introduced to PBR Ontario. He would eventually become an Area Scout for PBR and become very interested in Scouting/Pitching. During his time in school his focus was on the Biomechanics of pitches and how to completely understand how they work. He wrote a paper titled “The Manifestation of Muscle Fatigue in Baseball Pitchers: a Systematic Review.” Prior to working with the Rangers, Rich worked as a Pitch Design Engineer for Baseball Development Group and a Scouting Director for Evolution Matrix. He really enjoyed working for both of these companies and believes it put him in the best possible position for his career with the Texas Rangers. Rich has a bright future in baseball and really knows how to go about the baseball industry. Many people know it can be a grind but Rich has a great head on his shoulders and looking forward to the direction of his career.
