NGFP Local Lunch

Arts

Hello and welcome to the NGFP Local Lunch podcast trailer to tell you about this week’s podcast on Friday 17 January. Now tomorrow our podcast will go live a little later at 3pm as we are doing a community cooking demo with Nottingham City Homes in Basford - and even WE can’t be in two places at once! Before we introduce our guest let’s talk about what’s on the menu for tomorrows lunch! We will be serving up roasted butternut squash with garlic and lemon thyme with a side dish of red cabbage and fennel coleslaw YUM! Our guest joining us for lunch this week is Simon Scargill, the green fingered permaculture gardener behind Robin Hood Veg. Simon has always been a gardener, it all began with his grandad when Simon used to help him with his peelings trench. So What is a peeling’s trench? We will find out tomorrow. Simon is also a seasoned environmental campaigner - in the 80’s he joined the ranks of protesters fighting road network expansions and we look forward to hearing his story about that. When it came time to start work, he felt called by trees and gardens. He completed a permaculture design course and ready to set up his own food growing business. Simon formed Robin Hood Veg to supply ultra-local, healthy and heritage variety veg and salad to the folk of Nottingham, with the social element of supplying excess to community groups across the city. He is a man with great ideas and huge amounts of knowledge, so join us to find out about one of Nottingham’s food heroes. So join us for lunch with Simon this Friday at 3.00 pm simply search NGFP Local Lunch on your browser and we will pop up!
