If you have lived one minute as a Black Woman in America, then you are intimately aware of the tight rope act that most of us perform on a daily basis in trying to be heard and seen, in a world that would prefer us to be invisible helpers.  When we finally do assert ourselves and demand our humanity be acknowledged, we are ALWAYS (and I do mean ALWAYS) hit with being called some version of an Angry Black Woman.  It is enough to make you actually ANGRY, and thus the stereotype becomes reality.  So what do we do.......  we call in an expert to guide us through the journey of moving from an Angry Black Woman to a Healed Black Woman.  Meet Dr. Sesha Joi Moon, the preeminent expert on the phenomenon of being an Angry Black Woman.  Dr. Sesha Joi Moon [she|her|hers] is a Senior Talent Management Strategist at the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office [USPTO] at the U.S. Department of Commerce [DOC]. During her tenure, she has received the Commerce Spirit Award and Spotlight on Commerce for Black History Month and LGBT Pride Month. Her most notable accomplishments include -- implementing the USPTO Innovation Challenge as an ideation pilot program and OHR Intrapreneurship as a talent mobility pilot program, co-creating "Mindset of Millennials: A Campaign to Grow the Next Gen of Latinx Best Talent", aiding in the development of the DOC First Generation Professionals Initiative, serving as a founding member of the WSTEM employee resource group and DOC Performance Excellence Council, representing the agency as part of the DOC My Brother's Keeper Initiative and Office of Personnel Management Ideation Community of Practice, establishing a strategic partnership with the Merck Foundation and United Negro College Fund in support of the STEM Innovation, Commercialization & Entrepreneurship Summit as part of the White House Initiative on Historically Black Colleges & Universities. She is a Senior Research Fellow with The Conference Board’s Engagement Institute where she examined the intersection of diversity, equity, and inclusion with employee engagement as part of the Employee Engagement & Experience Council. She is also a Senior Fellow of the Excellence in Government Fellowship Program with the Partnership for Public Service, where she continues to serve as a Mentor with the Emerging HR Leaders Program. Her past experience includes work as a Senior Consultant with Booz Allen Hamilton and Special Assistant to the Chief Financial Officer & Assistant Secretary of Administration at DOC.She holds a Ph.D. in Public Administration & Policy from Old Dominion University. Her dissertation research examined the role of intersectionality on the talent mobility trends of women of color in the Federal Government. She also holds a Master of Science and Bachelor of Arts in Black Studies from Virginia Commonwealth University.She curates a digital platform called @AngryBlackFemale, which began as a space to dismantle false narratives about women of color through sociopolitical commentary but has since grown to a community for conscious conservation consisting of over 11K+ followers. She is a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc and serves as a board member with the Afrikana Independent Film Festival and St. Jude 5K Walk|Run DC, where she co-chairs the Divine Nine Engagement Subcommittee. She formerly served as a board member with ProInspire, which is a leading race equity firm.
