Free, 24/7, confidential. Amerikan Therapy sits down with Tari Cox, the author of "The Wilderness: Saved and Suicidal", to talk about her harrowing journey through multiple suicide attempts and her road to wellness. Tari's story offers a necessary picture of how someone who is successful by all external accounts and seemingly well adjusted could be quietly in the midst of a mental health crisis. Tari was in a rigorous graduate program studying clinical psychology when she first started realizing that something was seriously wrong. This episode offers a powerful insight into how "normal" people can be living and succeeding in life on the outside, while deeply struggling on the inside. The Amerikan Therapy team wants all of our listeners to know that there is help out there.  If you are struggling, know that you do not have to suffer in silence and that you are not alone.  Please stay steadfast on your journey to wellness, because you are necessary.  According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Leading Causes of Death Reports, in 2018:Suicide was the tenth leading cause of death overall in the United States, claiming the lives of over 48,000 people.Suicide was the second leading cause of death among individuals between the ages of 10 and 34, and the fourth leading cause of death among individuals between the ages of 35 and 54.There were more than two and a half times as many suicides (48,344) in the United States as there were homicides (18,830).Tari Cox Bio:  Tari Cox is a  devoted woman of God and seeks to be a vessel of encouragement in diverse atmospheres by vulnerably sharing her story, candid conversation about battling mental illness as a believer, and her academic training in the realm of psychology.
