Saturday Morning Coffee - the Reese Boyd Radio Hour

Miscellaneous

Memorial Day:  We remember Memorial Day and those who have sacrificed their lives on the many battlefields where liberty and freedom have been defended.  Reese discusses the origins of the Memorial Day holiday and some thoughts that he's had this week, reflecting on the meaning of the Holiday in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic and the various "lock-down" orders that have been issued by Governors across the Country in response.Coronavirus Update: Reese and Glenn discuss a brief update to the case and fatality numbers for COVID-19, and the contradictory statements that have been issued about the virus since this pandemic began, and how we are still learning about this virus and that we still have much to learn before we understand it.  A case in point is CDC's statement this week that the virus is generally NOT transmitted by touching contaminated surfaces, but rather by person-to-person infection.Candidate Interview with John Gallman:  John Gallman joins us to discuss his campaign for S.C. Senate District 33 in the upcoming GOP Primary on June 9, 2020.Interview with Rev. Jim Watkins:  Rev. Jim Watkins joins the show to discuss the work of SODA, Stop Offshore Drilling in the Atlantic, a grass-roots public lobbying group that was formed several years ago to oppose efforts to bring offshore oil drilling to the Atlantic Ocean and to South Carolina's coastal waters.Parting Wisdom:  Reese concludes the show with a nod to Abraham Lincoln at Gettysburg and a tribute to our Fallen Veterans this Memorial Day weekend. From all of us on the Saturday Morning Coffee Team, thanks for listening!
