Business

Will Winter always felt that at some point he would own his own business. After relocating to Pittsburgh with his wife and family, he endured long commutes to work in the city. One day, he called the small accounting practice that he drove by on his route to the office, which led to his acquisition of the business. Will quickly realized the stark differences between working for a large accounting firm and running a solo practice. But he instantly felt connected to the work, because he was directly helping the types of small business owners that originally inspired him to get into the accounting field. Will’s father was self-employed most of his life, but he often struggled with managing his finances. He had an aspiration to own his own auto body shop, but he never got it off the ground. This inspired Will to focus his career on helping people just like his dad, so that they could realize their dreams of entrepreneurship. In this episode, Will talks about the challenges of growing a service firm, why he started a separate restaurant advisory business, and some of the most common mistakes that small business owners make with their accounting. If you have any questions or if you’d like to chat, you can reach me at my contact info below.
