This week on Mindphucked, the hosts are discussing mental health in the black community. Bria sheds some light on her testimony in the psychiatric hospital and being misdiagnosed with Bipolar disorder. Bria, Evion, & Shay have an open dialogue about the many problems minorities face in the Behavioral Health Care system from non culturally competent care to the over-diagnosing of Scziophrenia in black males. Evion discusses mental health statistics specifically in the black LGBTQI community and talks about his own experience in mental health as a Black Gay male. The crew also highlights local clothing line, MADEMOBB, for partnering with The Kansas City Black Mental Health Initiative to provide free one on one therapy sessions for anyone in KC. The crew wraps up the show talking about their self-care plans as well as giving local mental health resources, particularly for individuals with low income or no insurance.
