Aloe Blacc is an singer, songwriter, and producer, actor, best known for his singles “I Need a Dollar”, performing vocals on Avicii’s “Wake Me Up”, which topped the charts in 22 countries, and has almost 1.5 BILLION views on Youtube. In the IMAX film “America’s Musical Journey”, narrated by Morgan Freeman, we follow Aloe Blacc through the history and cultural influences of American music. In this interview, we discuss Aloe’s own musical inspirations, how losing his job in the recession paved he way for his music career, how he saves all his ideas in his process for songwriting, and who and what he thinks runs the music industry.
