Fowler has capitalized on the phenomenon to advocate for equality, support, and fairness in Silicon Valley. She's worked for labor reforms, including a push to eliminate arbitration agreements. The New York Times cited Fowler’s "unique brand of courage, clarity of mind, and moral purpose" in hiring her as its technology opinion editor.
