The three friends were excited about the summer Regatta they were about to take part inr as they set sail from the harbour in Bembridge, Isle of Wight, heading for Dartmouth on the south-west coast. It was a pleasant evening, with benign conditions and the three men were all expert sailors. But they didn't arrive in Dartmouth.
