Thursday, May 28th 8:00PM Eastern/ 5:00PM Pacific The Context of White Supremacy hosts the 8th study session on Dr. Llaila O. Afrika's Nutritional Destruction Black People (Nutricide). Dr. Afrika is an internationally acclaimed author, naturopathic healer, certified acupuncturist, nutrition counselor and addictionologist. His surprising death in March of this year saddened and stunned many. He was 74. We were scheduled to read Dr. Afrika's work at some point this year, but there was no urgency to select a time. The coronavirus changed everything. Seemingly days after many around the world joked that black people are immune to "the rona," an avalanche of reports announced that black people in the U.S. are dying at alarming numbers from the so-called coronavirus. The history and continued practice of #MedicalAprtheid, abusing and experimenting on black patients, is one theory to explain the high number of fatalities. But obesity, cigarette smoking, high blood pressure, diabetes and a host of other diet-related health problems seem to be correlated with a higher risk of dying from the coronavirus. The current health crisis demanded that we open Dr. Afrika's work immediately. Unfortunately, this book is an enormous disappointment. There's a hefty amount of name-calling and blaming of black people - who are not in control of their food choices. The book is rife with misprints and typographical errors which is extremely unprofessional and makes for difficult reading. The poor editing reached new lows last week where the words "MORTALITY" and "MORALITY" are repeatedly confused. Sloppiness and lack of details have been hallmarks of this text and both continued during last week's session. Dr. Afrika referenced "anti-gravitational travel" being possible for folks with melanin.
