How do you pray when you’re in the dark night of the soul and God is silent?Heman was suffering physically, socially, emotionally, and spiritually. No one was around to comfort him; Darkness, his only friend. Heman knew the source and solution of his pain and suffering was God. Ultimately, Psalm 88 is a monologue where God is distant and silent. There are times that God will be silent, even in the dark night of the soul. Faith is belief in what is unseen, trusting God even in His silence, believing that the dark night will end and the morning shall come. It’s okay to wrestle with God in our pain. Jesus, the Man of Sorrows and Suffering Servant, knew what it was to experience physical agony, to be betrayed, to be rejected by his people, and to feel forsaken and alone. There is nothing wrong with you if you’re in the dark night of the soul.
