Full moon meditations

The moon gives us peace because it gives us distance and stillness and silence. It lets us realise that the universe is friendly, that time is our partner and that ‘nothing ever goes wrong in my life’. All of our restlessness, our anxiety, our anger comes from our conflict with life itself. We do not believe that our expectations are being met, that other people are not being the mirror image of ourselves, we do not trust life and so we try to force it. As you breathe and gaze upon the beautiful full moon. Let yourself relax and just be here, now. That is, if you have thoughts or regrets or even sorrow or shame from your past – for now just place them to the side. If you have ambitions about the future, or even anxiety or fear about what might be coming, or you are waiting for something – for now just let them all be. For now, it is just the moon that has your attention. Then imagine you are one of the 14 people that have actually stepped on the moon and that you are there now looking back at our beautiful, picturesque blue earth. See how peaceful it is from here, how still and silent. Reflect on its unique purpose, how all the souls, human, animal and vegetable, are journeying on such a perfect spaceship. How we are first and foremost, loving and peaceful, above all else. Look back at the earth and feel the awe, the magnificence of life, the balance, the ying, the yang – but more than anything how life is sensible and fair and ultimately every time, a magnificent blessing. Breathe in wonder, breathe in the awe of this glorious earth and more than that the entire universe. Feel gratitude, more and more on each inward breath, and radiate your highest love on your outward breath. Our planet is a sacred temple and our lives, the highest gift. We look at our earth from the moon and see that in essence we are nothing but love and everything else, our petty worries and fears and even discord, are temporary blemishes being slowly transformed into a wider and deeper experience of love.. Each breath, deeper and deeper, more and more reverence and gratitude on your inward breath, more and more love on your outward breath.
