The Holy Spirit is an advocate, a helper, another comforter. That means Jesus was the first helper (Comforter) for him to be another helper (Comforter). He is not a mere influence. He is not a movement. He is not dance partner or choreographers. He was there in the beginning. He is the spirit of God. He is a creator. He is a counselor. He is a helper. He inspires scripture. The Greek word translated here as “Helper” is parakletos. Technically speaking the word Helper (Comforter) has a legal dimension; it refers to one who would be an advocate for another. An advocate is a Person that acts on behalf of another.
