Music

The 16th century Jewish composer Salamone de Rossi is one of the more elusive figures in the world of Jewish liturgical music. All we know about him is the music which he left to us. In this first Podcast in what I hope will be series on the Jewish composers, Stephen Newman tries to find out a little more about Salamone de Rossi the man, how his music was influenced by the world in which he lived and why we know so little about him. The Podcast includes examples of de Rossi's work performed by the Zamir Chorale of Boston.
