N'DIGO STUDIO PODCAST

Society & Culture

In this episode N'DIGO Studio continues its discussion about the brutal murder of black Chicago teen Laquan McDonald and the issues this horrific incident raises. We are joined again by Rev. Gregory Seal Livingston - The Coalition For A New Chicago, and Pastor Marvin Hunter - Laquan McDonald's great uncle.  We discuss what could motivate police officers to commit such crimes against black people. We explore the inherently racist laws that exist within our legal system that allow events like Laquan’s murder and other racially motivated crimes to take place.  Rev. Livingston explains why he is working to encourage politicians to not vote for the current FOP (Fraternal Order of Police) contract and instead work towards a contract that supports black people and represents them in the right way. We discuss how changing the FOP contract here in Chicago would send a message to the country at large and hopefully inspire just reform on a national scale. We explore practical steps that we can take to work towards a more fair and just legal system. We discuss the history of oppression against black people as it relates to the legal systems that operate in the United States of America. In order to influence change it needs to start with education and political action.  N'DIGO STUDIO, making talk real again! Guests Rev.
