On a dark morning in January 1998, 5-year-old Brittany Locklear stood alone waiting for the school bus at the end of her driveway on Gainey Road in Hoke County, North Carolina. But when the school bus arrived, the spot that Brittany occupied was empty and the young girl was no where to be found. Within the hour, a massive county-wide search would be launched.
