In My Truth

Education

“We’re like, in a global psychedelic trip right now.” “It is all ceremony.” - Disclaimer: What we talk about on In My Truth tends to be very raw and can be triggering. In this episode there is discussion of drug use and plant medicine. If this brings up any issues for you, we recommend skipping this episode and rejoining us in the next one. Resources for support and help are included at the end of show notes - scroll down for more information. - “Every single rule we ever think about is just made up.” - Welcome back to this week’s episode of In My Truth. I’m so happy to be back recording again! Just yesterday I recorded my episode with Zoe which was amazing (you can listen here: https://www.sarahriegelhuth.com/podcast-episodes/zoe-winther) that hopefully provided a bit of content on why the show went missing for a few months. And today, our guest is the man I was talking about in that episode! Luckily you can’t see me, because I’m probably a little bit red sitting here with the amazing man, Joe Hawley! We’ve known each other for over a year through the Aubrey Marcus Fit For Service Fellowship (https://www.aubreymarcus.com/pages/fit-for-service-fellowship), but we never really connected until a plant medicine retreat in Minnesota. We both ended up in Austin when self-quarantining measures started taking place and decided to isolate together. I’m feeling blessed to have this time with Joe and his dog, Freedom, but let’s get into Joe’s story: He grew up in Orange County, California, went to school at UNLV in Las Vegas, played football and got drafted in 2010 by the Atlanta Falcons. He’s lived out his childhood dream, spending 8 years in the NFL, but started to find his heart pulling him in a different direction. In this conversation with Joe, we get deep into the identity crisis that comes with career and life transitions, plant medicine, and inner work during isolation. Let’s dive in. - “You can feel when someone loves you. I can feel the way you’re looking at me right now!” - Join your host Sarah Riegelhuth as she’s joined by Joe Hawley in this episode of In My Truth, as they dive into the collective slow down, sharing things publicly for the first time, resistance and receiving ‘the call’. - “You just need the courage to look in the mirror and ask the questions." - Listen in to the In My Truth podcast as Sarah Riegelhuth and Joe Hawley get deep into the stories around leaving football, psychedelics and modalities for healing. - “That onion of self work is infinite.” Joe and Sarah also get vulnerable with the stories they’re living with around: ayahuasca ceremonies intentional mushroom ceremonies triggers how we relate to the world our relationships with our parents growing up in a Christian household spirituality universal truths, laws and rules open conversations the infinite religion unwinding our belief systems the power of the mind pushing the limits of what’s possible raising vibrations when psychedelic trips turn negative good and bad trips fear of sharing gratitude compassion reconnecting with our childhoods unconditional love breath work “I broke myself to pieces and then I found myself again on the journey.” - Resources, people and ideas mentioned in this episode of In My Truth: Quantum Coffee Podcast - coming soon: (https://manvandogblog.com/) Soltara Ayahuasca Retreat: (https://www.sarahriegelhuth.com/words/2019/5/25/ayahuasca-1) Dieta: https://www.ayahuascafoundation.org/what-is-an-ayahuasca-plant-dieta/ Breathwork with Claudia: https://www.amarsi.love/ Evryman Retreats: https://www.evryman.com/ Aubrey Marcus FFS podcast guests: Alex Nelson: https://www.sarahriegelhuth.com/podcast-episodes/alex-nelson Seve Mangrum: https://www.sarahriegelhuth.com/podcast-episodes/seve-mangrum Eliza Hedley: https://www.sarahriegelhuth.com/podcast-episodes/eliza-hedley Wyatt Hagerty:...
