Is the New Testament Reliable? Professor Chauncey Sanders, a military historian, in his, “Introduction to Research in English Literary History,” says there are three tests to be used in determining the historical reliability of any document.  These are:   The bibliographical test The internal evidence test The external evidence test. Since the New Testament is a document, among other things, then it should receive no special treatment.  We'll subject the New Testament to Professor Saunder's tests and review the results.
