In this sermon we dive into two stories surrounding the Sabbath. Jesus feeds his hungry disciples and heals a man with a shriveled hand on the Sabbath. The Pharisees are outraged at both incidents, and their pushback provides an opportunity to hear Jesus teaching on the Sabbath. Jesus claims to be Lord of the Sabbath and he offers his followers the Sabbath rest of God everywhere he goes. With open arms, he says: Come to me all you who are weary and burdened and I will give you rest.
