He is also the first example of religious persecution. He killed his brother because of the open way he worshipped the Creator God. Soon, Cain's descendants fill the earth with violence and ambition for conquest and human greatness. In the Bible, he becomes the head of an unbroken line of humans at war with God. They are referred to as "the children of the devil". In their sights are those who are loyal and loving toward the Creator God.
