Center for Advanced Studies (CAS) Research Focus Biology of Genomes (LMU) - HD

Miscellaneous

A Voyage into Uncharted Histone Territories, Centromeres can be used as a model for epigenetic regulation in normal and diseased states. Here the research focus is especially on non-canonical histone variants such as Centromer Protein A (CENP-A). In recent years, observations were made by the group led by Yamini Dalal, which succeeded in linking CENP-A and long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) originating from human centromeres to the maintenance of chromatin structure at the centromere, and dysregulation of chromatin structure in human tumors.| Yamini Dalal is Researcher at the Laboratory of Gordon L. Hager (Receptor Biology and Gene Expression) of the National Cancer Institute in Bethesda, USA. She was a CAS Research Fellow from May to August 2017.
