In this episode, I speak with Walker McKusick, the National Director for Vote Smart. He graduated from the University of Virginia with degrees in History and Economics. After graduation, he taught History and Politics in England to students from 8th grade through their senior year of high school. He joined Vote Smart in 2015. Vote Smart's mission is to provide free, factual, and unbiased information on candidates and elected officials to all Americans. Founded 30 years ago by a group of people who, although considered political enemies at the time, agreed that information matters to civic discourse and is essential to representative democracy. The organization tracks over 17,000 candidates. It takes no special interest funding and pledges non-partisanship. One of Vote Smart's founders and its current president, Richard Kimball, is an Arizonan.
