In a very special ATP Extra, Terry and Millsy are joined by legendary Premier League referee, Mark Halsey. Mark tells us about his journey to the top as a referee, before talking some of the memorable game's he has been a part of. We of course, pick Mark's brains about his memories of players, managers and games involving both clubs, including how tough Duncan Ferguson was to referee, his relationship with David Moyes, including his match report saving him some money, as well as revisiting his decision to send Jonjo Shelvey off against Manchester United and his passion at refereeing one an anniversary of the Hillsborough tragedy, and how hearing You'll never walk alone that day affected him. We get Mark's thoughts on the current state of refereeing, and his thoughts on the introduction of VAR, and how he thinks it could be bettered. There are laughs a plenty, as well as a serious side on Mark's passion for football as we not only revisit his strong battle against throat cancer, but his return to the game and some of the stories that go along with it. ATP Extra Episode 40 - Mark Halsey

In the latest episode of Across the Park Podcast, the lads sit down to review the most recent games from both sides of the park, starting with Everton’s impressive 2-1 win away at Wolves. Judgy and Millsy both praise the tactical work from Ancelotti as well as the impact which the returning Lucas Digne brought to the side. Following this Judgy then takes a look at the highlights from Everton's recent AGM. Focus then turns to Liverpools dull 0-0 draw against Man United in which Liverpool’s attacking line once again misfired. Terry and Phil analyse the outcomes of the game and what may be causing the red's current slump. The "Look back in history" feature has the reds discussing two key milestones in the career of Jamie Carragher, with the blues looking back to 2006 when Alan Stubbs had to return to spare David Moyes’ blushes, after the signing of Per Kroldrup. Phil then introduces a new section of the show; “Higher or Lower”, before the lads tackle listener questions, including; speculation regarding Gini Wijnaldum and which Everton Academy product hurt the blues most when they left? The episode is rounded off with previews of the upcoming fixtures for both clubs with Liverpool first facing Burnley in the league on Thursday night, before attention turns to the 4th round of the FA Cup on the Sunday, with Liverpool again locking horns with Man Utd, this time at Old Trafford, whilst the blues host Sheffield Wednesday in the late kick off

Episode 19 - Season 2020/21

This week's episode sees reds Gary Murray and Terry McGivern and blues Ian Mills and Gary Judge, start off by reviewing what turned out to be tricky FA Cup ties for both teams. Liverpool winning against a young Aston Villa side and Everton winning in extra time against League Two's Rotherham. This week's "Week in History" has the blues looking back to losing Steven Pienaar in a cut price deal to Spurs back in 2011, while the reds reflect King Kenny Dalglish taking over the reigns at Anfield for a second time, bringing Roy Hodgsons dismal spell to an end. Social media questions are covered, before the show closes out with the blues looking ahead to their two fixtures; a trip to wolves on Tuesday night and then Villa Park in the early kick off on Sunday, before Liverpool play host to Man United and a chance to turn around some lacklustre form and maintain the top spot in the league

Episode 18 - Season 2020/21

In the latest episode of across the park podcast, the lads sit down to review what has been a difficult and frustrating few weeks for both sides of the park. Millsy and Judgy start with the disappointing exit in the league cup to United before reviewing the narrow victory and Sheff United and defeat at home to David Moyes’ West Ham which denied them the chance to go second in the table. The frustration is obvious but both blues agree that they have to be pleased with the current position despite this. The lads then move onto matters on the red side of the park where Phil and Gary discuss the poorest league run the reds have seen in the last 2 seasons with 2 draws and a loss. Both reds question the contribution of the front 3 in recent weeks as well as the recent ineffectiveness of Liverpool’s previous imperious full backs; Trent and Robertson. The lads then take a trip down memory lane as the blues recall the signing of James Beattie, 16 years ago and the reds recall the loss of Fernando Torres. The social media questions include a focus on Everton’s lack of academy products in recent years and further spotlight on Liverpool’s attacking line before the episode is rounded off with a look towards this weekends FA Cup ties.

ATP Episode 17 - Season 2020/21

Phil and Terry are joined by former Liverpool player, current BBC football analyst and local lad Stephen Warnock to discuss the highs and lows of his career, from start to finish. From breaking into the first team, to scoring in front of the kop and his eventual move away from the reds. It’s no secret that Stephen didn’t see eye to eye with managerial legend Rafa Benitez and Stephen isn’t afraid to give his side of the story and explain why that relationship broke down. Stephen was at the club during a time when Liverpool won the Champions League (although he has a horrendous tale to tell about his experience of that game) and is able to give some amazing behind the scenes insight as to what it was like to be at Liverpool during those years. We also touch on Stephen’s time after Liverpool, where he went on to play probably his best football at Blackburn Rovers before moving to a good Aston Villa side. Stephen progressed to be selected for the 2010 World Cup squad and is able to share what it’s like for the squad to be under that kind of pressure to succeed internationally. Warnock finished his career playing for a number of other clubs, most notably Leeds United and Wigan Athletic. A very interesting story and lots of insight into what has been an impressive footballing career. 

ATP Extra 39 - Stephen Warnock

On the final episode of 2020, the blues Millsy & Craig and the reds Phil & Gary look back on a brilliant week for both clubs results wise, as we review Liverpool vs Spurs and Crystal Palace as well as Everton vs Leicester and Arsenal. The lads give their thoughts on the games, individual performances and the important in the bigger picture of taking points from rivals before they tackle some listener questions, including who they think will finish in the top 4 and their player of 2020 for both clubs. Phil and Gary also heap praise on Jurgen Klopp and the Liverpool side for their FIFA and BBC awards before a look ahead to the packed festive schedule for the reds, in which the trip to Southampton is identified as the toughest game in this period, and their opinion on what players will feature during the individual games. The blues preview the big cup quarter final against Manchester United before giving their thoughts on the upcoming christmas schedule and who they can see starting, and when. ATP Episode 16 - Season 2020/ 21

Phil, Terry and Judgy got together to try something new for the podcast. Instead of the beautiful game the lads attempt to discuss the sweet science of boxing. This episode focus’ on the huge up coming fight between scouser Callum Smith and the iconic Canelo Álvarez. In this one hour special the lads look at the keys to success for both fighters, as well as looking back at some previous opponents to look for clues in how this fight may pan out. There are a mixture of predictions for the outcome of the bout, before the lads turn their attention to Anthony Joshua’s recent impressive victory against Kubrat Pulev and potential unification match against Tyson Fury.

ATP Boxing Special - Smith v Canelo

This week's episode sees blues Judgy and Craig joined by reds Terry and Gary, with the show beginning with the lads reflecting on the sad news for Liverpool Football Club and football in general, of former Liverpool manager Gerard Houllier's passing, after recent heart surgery. Gerard's contribution to the recent history of Liverpool is discussed, as well as the impact his successes as manager had for the reds on the pod and on the status of the club in general. Liverpool's away draws to FC Midtjylland and Fulham are then covered, before the blues discuss their impressive win against Chelsea at Goodison Park. With games coming thick and fast in December, the show closes with previews of 4 games; Liverpool host Spurs at home on Wednesday before going to C.Palace on the Saturday and Everton's travel to Leicester, also on Wednesday, before they host Arsenal at home on Saturday.

Jamie isn't afraid to talk about how he grew up an Evertonian, and tells Millsy how he was present at the 1985 European Cup Winners Cup Semi Final against Bayern Munich, and discusses in detail how the love for Everton wasn't replaced instantly, but rather gradually as his heart moved permanently to the Spion Kop. Phil and Gary then ask all the questions a Liverpool supporter wants to hear, and get the answers in depth as Jamie talks the timeline of his Liverpool career, from his debut goal in 1997 at the Kop end, to his decision to walk away from the club he loved, and if he feel's his presence would have made a difference in the subsequent 13-14 season. Everything in-between is covered in detail, from Robbie Fowler's exit and the rumored bust up with Phil Thompson, Gerard Houllier, Rafael Benitez, Michael Owen's departure and just how Steven Gerrard's rumored move to Chelsea affected his wedding day! This week saw not only fans return to Premier League football stadia but also marks the first time the lads have recorded face to face after almost 9 months of remote recording, through lockdown! The reds, Terry and Phil are joined by blues Millsy and Judgy as Across The Park Podcast decamped to the home of the best Pizza's in Liverpool, Dough Pizza, to record episode 14. First up, the reds review Liverpool's Champions League win against Ajax, which clinches qualification from the group with a game to spare, before the blues discuss a disappointing draw away to Burnley in the league, where team selection and formation is again a hot topic. Liverpool's impressive 4-0 win in front of the fans for the first time since March is next up, with the team receiving high praise from the reds and there's also a guest call from a friend of the show, who was in attendance at Anfield about how the return of fans went. After receiving a lot of social media questions on Everton's recent form, the blues attempt to address a number of points on formation/personel, before a new segment to the show "This week in history" sees both sides discuss the loss of club legends and their feelings at the time. The show wraps with previews of the upcoming games; a dead rubber for Liverpool against FC Midtjylland in the Champions League on Wednesday before going to Fulham on Sunday, whilst Everton face an in-form and confident Chelsea for a tasty Saturday night game at 8pm 

Episode 14 - Season 2020/21

On an Everton FC special, a legend joins Millsy & Judgy to talk the timeline of his Everton career, the moments that shot him into the hearts of Evertonians from 1999-2005, as well as the stories surrounding the club at the time. Kevin tells all about the initial loan move to Everton, when he knew he wanted to make the move permanent as well as his special bond on the pitch with Francis Jeffers. We talk everything from his disappointment at seeing Don Hutchison move on & his thoughts on Nick Barmby's decision to cross the park to some hilarious Paul Gascoigne stories and the truth behind his reaction to Duncan Ferguson's return in 2000 as well as how manager at the time Walter Smith sought his opinion on the transfer itself. The dressing room's reaction to Walter Smith being dismissed and replaced by David Moyes is discussed in depth as well as his pride at becoming the first black club captain in Everton's history. Kevin shares a great story on playing with a 14 year old Wayne Rooney and how he good he was, his thoughts on the departure of Wayne to Manchester Utd in 2004 and addresses the rumours that he was offered a release in the turbulent summer 2004. Kevin's love for the club & supporters shines through the entire episode, but no more so than his comments on being emotional when he left the club, only to see the supporters sing his name even in defeat when Everton met West Brom a few months later. Episode 13 begins with reds Terry and Phil diving straight into the Thiago situation, after Jurgen Klopp’s most recent announcement suggesting he won’t be seen in red until the new year. The lads then go on to discuss a missed opportunity in the Champions League, following a 2-0 defeat at the hands of Atalanta mid-week. Liverpool followed that up with a 1-1 draw at Brighton at the weekend and the lads discuss the game and the latest chapter in VAR controversy which surrounds Liverpool fixtures at the moment. The blues then get their opportunity to scrutinise their defeat at home to Leeds, with formations and tactics being discussed. Along the way Millsy and Judgy also field questions from the listeners about Everton’s possible lack of identity on the pitch and also a perceived lack of work rate and intensity. The show closes with both sides looking forward to upcoming fixtures; Everton travel to Burnley on Saturday, which is never and easy place to go, whilst Liverpool also have a meaningful tie against European giants Ajax on Tuesday, before a tough fixture against Wolverhampton Wanderers on Sunday night

This weeks episode begins with the reds, Gary & Terry and the blues, Millsy & Judgy, giving their views on the latest government announcement on the potential return of small numbers of fans to football grounds, under the new regional tier lockdowns, from 3rd December. Everton's narrow victory over Fulham is then discussed, with Richarlison's performance in particular a standout for the blues. The reds then talk about their impressive 3-0 victory at home to Leicester, despite a depleted side, with Diego Jota continuing his impressive start and Milner showing his continued value to the team. A fiery post match interview from Jurgen Klopp regarding the fixture congestion, unaired in the UK, sees split opinions on the pod, before the team cover some listener questions including; Iwobis recent impressive form,  questions about James Rodriguez supposed poor form and whether Naby Keita's place in the Liverpool squad should start to be questioned. The show closes with previews of both sides upcoming games; Liverpool host Atalanta in the Champions League on Wednesday, before travelling to Brighton for the early kick off on Saturday, before Everton face Leeds at Goodison Park at 5.30pm the same day

Episode 12 - Season 2020/21

Episode 11 of the 2020/21 season begins with the lads paying tribute to Liverpool legend Ray Clemence, who sadly passed away at the weekend. Since there have been no games played by either club this past week, the lads start the show by addressing the suggestion that the government are considering allowing fans back into stadiums, in some capacity, as early as December. Questions from the listeners on the red side focus around Gini Wijnaldum’s contract situation and wether or not Liverpool should pay big money for Jack Grealish, whilst the blues tackle questions around the absence of Yerry Mina, the future of Marcel Brands and the formation Ancelotti should utilise going forward. The show closes with the lads discussing the up coming fixtures, which see Everton travel to take on a struggling Fulham side in the early kick-off game on Sunday, whilst Liverpool follow on at 7:15pm at home to top of the table Leicester City.
