About

Voices for Georgia's Children traveled to 4 rural counties: Whitfield, Dougherty, Effingham and Lamar, to hear firsthand, the barriers and struggles children living outside of the Atlanta metro area face in accessing quality health care. We worked with partners to identify counties that were geographically diverse in region. Parents, healthcare workers, government employees, law enforcement, community volunteers and school officials were placed into 8 focus groups, with sessions lasting approximately 1.5 hours each. Although participants differed in insurance and employment status, as well as in race and cultural backgrounds, one commonality stood out: a belief that children in their community deserve better.
