Damon Gough aka Badly Drawn Boy joins Classic Album Sundays’ founder Colleen ‘Cosmo’ Murphy to discuss his seminal soundtrack to noughties classic About A Boy, as part of Royal Albert Hall's Festival Of Film.  Colleen and Damon discussed how he approaches creating music to be featured on screen and the soundtracks that have influenced his over the years.  In addition to songs from his own soundtracks, Damon picked his favourite film music to be played over the world-class hi-fi system throughout the evening.

In celebration of National Album Day, Penguin Cafe’s Arthur Jeffes joins Classic Album Sundays’ founder and BBC Radio 6 Music host Colleen Murphy to discuss the story behind their latest album Handfuls of Night. The album, which will be played in full over a world-class hi-fi system, is the follow-up to Penguin Cafe’s much applauded record The Imperfect Sea (2017) and sees Arthur Jeffes’ journey follow in his father’s footsteps – on a project inspired by the Antarctic. Handfuls of Night began life after Greenpeace commissioned Jeffes to write four pieces of music corresponding to four breeds of penguins, to help raise awareness for the endangered Antarctic seas.

Classic Album Sundays founder and BBC Radio 6 Music host Colleen ‘Cosmo’ Murphy is joined by elbow’s Guy Garvey to take a look at their brand new album Giants of All Sizes in the Elgar Room at Royal Albert Hall.  Lead singer and lyricist Guy Garvey describes the album as “an angry, old blue lament which finds its salvation in family, friends, the band and new life.” It is a record that lyrically takes in moments of deep personal loss whilst reflecting its times by confronting head-on the spectres of injustice and division not just in the UK but across the world. It is a record that could only have been made in the 21st Century.

Sister Sledge join Colleen ‘Cosmo’ Murphy at Kings Place as part of the ‘Venus Unwrapped’ series to discuss their iconic We Are Family album. We Are Family is one of the most iconic dance albums of all time and is celebrating its 40th anniversary this year. Its title track is an enduring classic that has resounded at key life moments with people from all backgrounds. Debbie Sledge and Kim Sledge join Classic Album Sundays founder/broadcaster Colleen ‘Cosmo’ Murphy to look back to the creation of the album that also includes hits He’s the ‘Greatest Dancer’, ‘Lost in Music’, and ‘Thinking of You’ and to the greater cultural context of disco and it’s legacy. The session will also feature a vinyl replay of the Chic-produced album immersing fans in some of the most joyous sounds of the Seventies.
