I introduce Milton Heath, my course buddy for EDUCx509 Instructional Planning and Pedagogical Practice course at Humboldt State University College of Global and Extended Education. We connected over the redwoods and book recommendations in earlier courses. Though our interests span boundaries, I've placed us in two boxes, the Forester and the Historian. Join us as we learn to podcast and introduce each other over two episodes.   Milton shares his top picks for travel destinations (anyone in Ireland looking for an outstanding Instructor for a course in American History?)  He explains what sparked his interest in history and how circling courses in a University catalog led him to two colleges in Santa Clara County California. Milton brings a strong work ethic to our course discussion boards and assignments that inspired me to devote focus to this course. This is a trait he will certainly instill in students in the future. He shares some helpful resources including Age of Opportunity by Dr Laurence Steinberg. Milton designs his course with intent, recognizing chronic overstimulation and distraction in society and creates an atmosphere that helps students focus fifty minutes of their time in his classroom. He says,  "Generally speaking if you are the patient one and the kind one, it generally comes back in spades." I hope you enjoy a short part of Milton's story, from the second gilded-age to his first podcast stage.
