International Women's Day Meaning

This Sunday we'll be exploring the universal law of cause and effect. It has been scientifically proven that an affirmative thought is hundreds of times more powerful than a negative thought. It takes many negative thoughts and persistent negative thinking to bring something negative into your life. However, if you persist, negativity can be the outcome. Instead, decide right now that you are a co-creator with God in your life. Decide that you are going to think only good thoughts. At the same time, proclaim to the Universe that all your good thoughts are powerful and that any negative thoughts are weak. My affirmative prayer for you is this: "I make the commitment today to let all of my thoughts feelings, words, and actions go forth to produce good effects in the world. Thank You, God, for the comfort and the assurance of your unfailing law."

Positive Thinking

We explored the value, worth, and dignity of all human beings and learn more about the role the Black Church has in leading the movement toward justice and equality. The cost for societal change is still the same — commitment, compassion, and courage. Join us as guest speaker, MelindaJoy Mingo, author and Associate Pastor at Relevant Word Ministries and the founder of Je-Nai International Ministry. She is a professor, cultural capacity expert, and entrepreneur based in Colorado Springs. She holds a PhD in Global Leadership and an honorary doctorate in Urban Transformative Leadership and has been widely recognized for her teaching and training in cross cultural competency.

Multi-Cultural Study Continues

This Sunday, we welcome our new Associate Minister, Julie Armour as she shares, “Magnifying the Light.” We are of Spirit. Bigger, so much bigger than any particular human experience and yet it is through the human experience that the Divine Spirit expresses in and as us. We will be exploring evolutionary enlightenment and there has never been a better time to be a catalyst for the enlightenment of humanity. The four tenets we will examine are: clarity of intention, the power of choice, face everything and avoid nothing and the process perspective. Our enlightenment is a process. From this perspective you see your personal experience, which at times can feel overwhelming, within an infinitely larger context. The drama of our personal desires and concerns becomes secondary to the prime directive of the authentic self. This is all done by magnifying our light in all the areas of our evolutionary process.

Join us as we continue or Inter-Religious study with David Gardiner, speaking about "Confucianism". Confucianism is a term for an ancient and still thriving Chinese tradition that promotes ideals and practices that nurture social harmony. Whether it ought to be considered a religion or not is a matter of debate. Confucius was a secular teacher who lived around 500 BCE, and whose many students put his words into writing. Key themes he emphasized were: benevolence, propriety, reciprocity and humility. He taught at a time when he, and many others, believed that the ethical norms that had sustained classical Chinese culture for centuries were eroding due mainly to the greed and vanity that were fostering political strife. His aim was to set people back on a harmonious and peaceful course of social engagement that embodied a kind of submission to an impersonal cosmic pattern or force known as the Way (or Dao).

Inter-Religious Focus on Confucianism

This Sunday, we looked at interconnection through consciousness and asking how we hold the highest of frequencies when the world around us feels like it is dragging us backward instead of lifting us up. Rev. Ahriana lead us in a very moving prayer for the world in which we live as there are so many things currently going on. Focusing on the fires in Australia, the Middle East, our soldiers and their families. Let us stand together, hold space for each other and share our strength so that we can make it through for the greatest and highest good for all.

Dear ones, Today I delivered my final sermon as your Associate Minister. I will shared two poems, that I love, and a love letter to Unity. You touched me. You touched my soul. Because of you, I healed in places that were tired and worn out. You gave me a place to land after a very difficult transition away from full time parish ministry. I will not forget you. Let me just say this, the world needs your message right now, more than ever. Your message is embedded in your name: Unity. We are all one. We just sometimes forget. And you all bear witness to this reality. Every time you step into that sanctuary, or attend an interfaith gathering, or worship at another community's service. You bear witness to the ultimate reality, that we are one, and that love has triumphed. If I were to guess, I'd say Ahriana and all of you reached out to me to be a part of your ministry, because I bring a Christian/Humanist/Poetic/Mytho approach to life and our work together. And it has been a privilege and a pleasure to share whatever wisdom I have with you all. My last sermon was like all the other ones: some random stories, some random images, and some laughter that hopefully add up to a little something. But what a beautiful thing that we build together on all of those Sunday morning services. A time to breathe. A time to not contribute to the Gross Domestic Product or the national economy. But just a time to be. Thank you all who joined me!
