The target of the archer is the gold center bullseye of the target. But, there is an affliction that plagues some archers called "Gold Fever", where they let the air loose as soon as they see the gold bullseye in their sights before they get their true aim.  Sometimes as followers of Jesus, we can suffer from the same affliction. We act before we have our true aim on the target that Jesus would have us go after.

We try to balance our Christian lives by doing the good stuff and not doing the bad stuff through sheer will power. Then, WHEN we fall, we feel like junk and throw in the towel. Peter was one of the most faithful disciples Jesus...most of the time. There was an important moment where he failed to be faithful and it almost caused him to miss out on what Jesus had for him. But an encounter in John 21 with Jesus put him back on track. Maybe we need an encounter like this...

As mothers (fathers, grandparents, or even influences in your kid’s friend's lives), we have the opportunity to point the young people in our lives toward Jesus. At the end of our lives, let it be said of us that we had faith, lived it out, and passed it on to those around us.

Leaving a Legacy

Imagine having a disease so contagious and so deadly that you were exiled from any populated area and no one would even get anywhere near you. Now imagine a person who loved you so much that they didn't care about all that: They were willing to be close to you, talk to you, and even touch you. That's what Jesus does for a man in this week's encounter.
