Recently on her show, she posed the question, "How well are you stewarding yourself?" It struck me immediately because I'd never thought about self-care in that way before. Then I started to think about how this relates to our worth. This worthfull affirmation is an opportunity for you to ask yourself the same question. If our worth is the best steward we can ask for, are we letting it fill that role? What would happen if we did? I've been thinking about how powerful it is to know that we are known. Not just by others, but by ourselves, and by our worth. This worthfull affirmation is a reminder to you that you are known. For all of your best qualities and choices and efforts.  "Change nothing except the amount of love you give to yourself." - Sarah Blondin     I heard this beautiful phrase while listening to a meditation a few weeks ago, and it sunk right into my heart. I hadn't ever thought that the only thing that might need to change in my life is the amount of love I give to myself. I loved exploring this idea and asking myself the question, what would happen if I only increased the amount of love I showed to myself? This worthfull affirmation is a reminder to you, and an invitation, to change the amount of love you give to yourself. To increase it wildly.  "I know that you're working your very hardest at being the kind of person you wish you were."     As usual, I recorded this affirmation for myself, because it's what I needed to hear. I read a snippet somewhere recently that started with, "I know that life is . . ." and it felt so comforting to hear someone else acknowledge the circumstances I was feeling. One of the best ways I've found to soothe myself is to speak to myself through the voice of my worth. So that's where this affirmation is coming from. This worthfull affirmation is a comfort for you. A chair to sit down on for a minute. A warm cup of tea to sip. A beautiful scene to take in. It's a reminder that all of your effort and all of your demands are seen and known. Crises in Afghanistan, Haiti, and so many places as a result of the Earth's climate crisis and humanity's crises around politics and social justice have all hit at once. I've been doing my best to educate myself on how to help and also to understand what we've let happen to get us here. I know that worth is at the center of the way forward. It always is. It's felt like a marathon that's lasted months, maybe years. It's a really good thing that I know will be good for everyone involved. It's the thing I really care about right now. And it hasn't happened yet. I'm starting to see the wisdom in this wait; it's a time for my worth to really come to the surface and reveal herself to me. This worthfull affirmation is a reminder that when it hasn't happened yet, it's not because your worth is on the line. On the front of the card it said, "You're the best," in lovely gold scripting. I set it on my desk for a nice little reminder. And then I started thinking about that idea. What does it mean to be the best at being ourselves? Isn't that what's at the heart of living worthfully? I think so. This worthfull affirmation is a reminder that you are the best at being you. You're in a class of one. Being the best comes with no burden, no competition, and no hierarchy.  "Be patient with yourself. Nothing in nature blooms all year."   I've been practicing a lot of patience so far this year. In the pandemic, in my business, in my marriage, in other ways. It's been powerful and stretching and at times tiring. But I'm trusting that seasons of patience are leading to seasons of blooming and activity and excitement. And that I'll be so grateful I had the patience to experience all of these quiet moments before the bloom. This worthfull affirmation is a reminder that every season has deep value for us - the blooming, the shedding, the hibernation, and the germination.  As long as you do not know How to die and come to life again, You are but a sorry traveler On this dark earth. - Johann von Goethe   I heard a short poem by Goethe in a mediation class a few years ago, and I jotted it down in a note on my phone because it struck me so much. Every so often, I'll see the note and re-read it and it still lands for me in the same way. The idea of death and birth being a natural cycle, that can happen again and again within a lifetime, is so powerful when we remember that our worth is intact through every chapter. It's the spark that allows a new phoenix of ourselves to emerge after every chapter ends. I recorded a worthfull affirmation to share the thoughts I've collected through the years about this cycle. As we come out of this chapter of a global death and rebirth through a pandemic and societal unraveling, I am especially grateful for this knowledge. Not the daydream kind of belief -- I'm already excellent at that. But belief in my own strength, talent, and ability, as well as belief in a higher source that is supporting and invested in my success. I'm all about breathers and breaks because they re-energize me around the things I love. I spent some time last week in a national park, off the grid, and soaked in all the medicine Mother Nature offers. It was a wonderful breather, and it gave me perspective on all the discomfort I've felt the past several months. Just like hiking up a mountain, discomfort is temporary. It's a growing process. We come out stronger from it if we choose. More importantly, our worth reminds us that we are still everything we feel when we are comfortable, when we are uncomfortable.
