Today I dropped mixtape 006 which is packed with my fav Baile Funk type tunes by DKPZ, Vhoor, Mitchell Yard, Cardosu, PPP, KVNL, Lotso, SirOJ, MC Kevin & MC Davi, Drew, Sansai and Jarreau Vandal & Jaël.I’ve always loved how gritty but groovy, different and distinct this sound is. Unfortunately it didn’t really push through into the mainstream despite it caught some populairity the last couple of years. Either way I still love playing this because it sounds so inviting to dance to and I love how beautiful the portguese language sounds (despite it’s mostly vulgar content haha) so I often manage to mix one or two of these into a set. I shot the foto of this cover myself at the foot of Favela Da Rocinha in Rio De Janerio in 2011. Also went up there back then. Can’t do that now anymore cause it’s less safe there than it was back then. Edited by Zoe Love Smith of course.
