Hope you're all having a restful weekend! It's been a BIG couple of weeks over here in Canada, as demonstrations of Indigenous Solidarity have been happening and shutting down infrastructure to show support for the people who are being targeted by the RCMP in Wet’suwet’en. As the Canadian Government continues to refuse to acknowledge the Indigenous rights of land ownership, and is attempting to build a pipeline with Coastal GasLink on unceded territory, a conversation is coming into focus about the ongoing harm of Colonialism and the Negative effects of Capitalism on both the environment and the lives of Indigenous Peoples, who want nothing more than peaceful coexistence between all peoples and the Mother Earth. I'm joined today by Dakota Bear, a Vancouver-Based hip-hop artist and important leader in the Indigenous Rights conversation in Vancouver. He has played an integral part in the recent demonstrations, and is here today to discuss the intricacy and nuance of a situation that is not only an extremely important modern political moment, but something that dates back FAR longer than the Canadian Government would like you to think.
