Jake Hatch is back as the 2020 Utah high school football season is set to kick-off in what is sure to be an unprecedented season full of many unknowns. Jake revealed the Utah Preps Zone Top-20 preseason rankings throughout the show while checking in around the state with experts to get their thoughts on the teams in their respective areas. Hatch was first joined by longtime co-host and regular contributor Sean Walker from KSL.com. Sean and Jake talked about some of the overarching themes in the upcoming season while also making preseason title picks in the 5A and 6A ranks. Jake then began the 2020 preseason ranking countdown with the Top-5 teams in the state going into the season. (3:41) Patrick Carr from the Standard-Examiner in Ogden checked in with Jake next to talk about football in Weber, Davis & Box Elder counties. He thinks the region races in both Region 1 and Region 5 are more open due to a large number graduations in 2019. Hatch then talked about teams 6-10 in the preseason rankings. (26:31) Jake stayed with in Northern Utah as he went to Cache Valley next and talked about Region 11 with Ajay Salvesen from 106.9 The Fan. Ajay says Sky View is good enough to repeat as region champions, but he is not convinced the Bobcats are the favorite to repeat as 4A state champions. Hatch then broke down teams 11-15 in the preseason rankings (46:21) Finally, the podcast traveled south to St. George to check in on Region 9 with Devin Dixon from ESPN 97.7. Dixon says the hype around Snow Canyon is real, but that the always-competitive region will make the Warriors earn everything they accomplish.
