Dr. Maria Herczog, senior policy analyst at Institute for Human Services, Columbus, Ohio, and chair of the Family, Child, Youth Association in Budapest, Hungary, and Dr. David Rinaldi, FEPS Director of Studies and Policies, discuss about the need of improvement of the European early childcare services, especially after the social and economic effects of the COVID19 pandemic. These services are fundamental to reduce inequalities in early ages and grow motivated and resilient children. Dr Herczog stresses that services should adapt flexibly to the need of the families and be integrated with other welfare provision. This FEPS Talks also looks at the role that the EU can play and share hopes for the upcoming Child Guarantee initiative. The host and the special guest also invite EU institutions to take a more convincing standing in the protection of children from vulnerable households, such as Roma and migrants.
