Juneteenth is not the day enslaved people were freed or the day slavery ended. It’s the day when enslaved Texans found out they had been free... for over 2 years, on June 19th, 1865. That was two years after 'Honest' Abe released his greatest hit, The Emancipation Proclamation, on Jan 1st, 1863. The confederates, however, were not just going to let those slaves go free. So... they didn't tell them they were free for as long as possible! And that's the world we are living in today. It's ok if you didn't know! Sonal just found out this week. And Meg knows because she knows way more than people born in this country... such as Sonal. In the time you read the description of today's episode, you could have placed a call to Daniel Cameron, the attorney general in charge of Breonna Taylor's case. Press 1 to leave a voicemail and ask them to arrest the cops that took her life. 502-696-5300
