Golf Swing Rx Podcast: The Prescription FORE your Game

Miscellaneous

In this episode, The Golf Doc sits down with Dr. Kaylee Garrett Simmerman, a pelvic health and wellness specialist and women's health expert, to discuss and educate on the importance of proper pelvic floor function for the golfer whether male or female, and how it relates to adequate body mechanics in the golf swing. The Rotational nature within the game of golf, places an extreme amount of stress on our bodies causing damage to occur on a cyclical and repetitive basis at the musculoskeletal level. As a result, our bodies will naturally develop muscular asymmetries and imbalances impairing our function and performance.  However, we tend to overlook a specific region known as our "pelvic floor" due to the fact that it deals with the health and wellbeing of our reproductive, sexual, bowel, and bladder function. All of which have a major influence on spinal, hip/pelvic, and lower extremity mechanics and therefore should not be ignored.  Listen to this episode to find out why our pelvic health is so important for not only the golfer, but for the general population all over the globe, and what to do if you're suffering from dysfunction within these areas or systems.
