Dear you

Education

Shift your attitude - Today itself I was watching one of the episodes of Marie Tv, where Marie Furleo gave a very powerful quote by Chuck Swindoll. Now this quote is so powerful that I am going to read it to you twice. Life is 10% what happens to me, and 90% how I react to it. Now you may not be able to change the people in your life, or the job you do, or the traffic jam or even the covid 19 situation. But you can change your perspective. M.S Dhoni, the former Indian Cricket Captain and popularly known as captain cool, believed in this idea. The idea of taking care of only the controllable. You see if you want to make a bigger and better house, you need to destroy the one you are currently living in, unless of course if you have money to buy another plot. But the point here is, that things need to crumble sometimes so that we can shape them better and stronger. What you can do here is, to take care of what you can and the rest will take care of itself. The power of response - Anne frank wrote what we now know as a book called, “The diary of a young girl.” in her darkest hours. Maya Angelou, read and read when she went mute for 5 years in her life and she has talked about those 5 years with so much passion, because in those times she gained perspective and purpose. Mohan Das Karamchand Gandhi became Mahatma after facing racism in South Africa. In the darkest nights, you either burn yourself with the fire you have within you or you become a torch for transformation. So start with shifting your perspective, ask yourself how you can make the best of this situation, what opportunity or learning you may have here, what do you need to let go, in this situation. Where is your life trying to push you? Once you change your attitude, your response changes too. You take an impactful, conscious and smart decision. Like for me when this lock down happened, I knew that I can not go out anymore or do my trainings but I did realise that I have more time to take care of my heath. Since then, I have been eating healthy and I am also practicing yoga. Count your blessings - I understand, on some days you just don’t want to get up or change your perspective or do anything productive. Those days, garb something you love indulging in, watch a good movie and count your blessings. For me, I have been so grateful lately to be with my family, to be able to eat with them or watch TV with them and see them all safe and healthy. When you will start counting your blessings, you will see, there are so many that your fingers are not enough. Thank your window and your roof, thank your pillow or thank you pet and you will feel a wave of positivity just entering your body. Work on yourself but work for lesser hours - When you shift your energy and attention from what’s wrong to what can be right? You are half done there. In those times, start working on yourself but do not give yourself completely, your work shouldn’t be an escape but an elevation. You already have a difficult situation, do not drain yourself by working too much. Work for 5 hours, but deliver quality. And in the rest of your time, play cook sing do whatever you want. This is more effective when there is a situation you can not change. So you accept it and leave it right there, the situation will take care of itself. Don’t worry! Homo sapiens are wired to find solutions to everything they label as danger. You don’t have to do it all. You cannot find a vaccine for covid, what you can do, is listen to this podcast and be more happy and productive! Hahaha I just plugged it in there. Choose who you want to connect with - You do not have to isolate yourself or nag to ten people about your shitty life. Choose your tribe. Connect with people who add value to your life and not pile up their negativity on yours. If you want to win, you gotta have a great team.
