Jonathan Wilson-Hartgrove is the author of Reconstructing the Gospel: Finding Freedom from Slaveholder Religion. In 2003, he and his wife Lead founded the Rutba House, a house of hospitality where the formerly homeless are welcomed into a community that eats, prays, and shares life together. As the director of the School for Conversion, Jonathan pursues the beloved community in his neighborhood, North Carolina prisons, and in community-based education around the country. He is an Associate Minister at the historically black St. John’s Missionary Baptist Church and a promoter of the Poor People’s Campaign: A National Call for Moral Revival. He is a co-compiler of Common Prayer: A Liturgy for Ordinary Radicals, the coauthor with Reverend Dr. William Barber II of The Third Reconstruction: Moral Mondays, Fusion Politics, and the Rise of a New Justice Movement, and the author of multiple books on Christian spirituality including The Wisdom of Stability and The New Monasticism.
