Ocean Chief Lifeguard Janet Fash was the first female Chief Lifeguard in Rockaway over 40 years ago and has been a familiar face on Rockaways beaches ever since. As a tireless advocate of public safety, Fash has rescued countless individuals off our shores and trained numerous lifeguards and members in the Rockaway Community. As the city's "plan" to open the beaches begins to take shape, we thought a chat with a Rockaway legend like Fash would he helpfuland educational as well.
