A dental implant is a surgical component that the dental practitioners place in the patient’s jaw or the skull to support the dental prosthesis. Dental prosthetics such as bridges, dentures, crowns, facial prosthetics, or implants could act as an orthodontic anchor. The implant placed in the jaw acts as a tooth root, around which a normal bone grows within 3 to 6 months, and, finally, it completely integrates itself with the bone of the patient. After this long process, the dentist can then fix a crown on top of the implant head. This is the process of getting a regular dental implant.
